Elizabeth S. Klassen, 79, died Saturday, July 24, 2010, at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal.

She was born April 23, 1931, to John H. and Sara (Reimer) Doerksen in Meade.

She married Raymond D. Klassen Oct. 25, 1964, in Meade. He preceded her in death.

She was a member of the Emmanuel Mennonite Church in Meade.

She was involved in volunteer work for the church, Et Cetera Shop, Coronado Museum and many other organizations.

She is survived by two sons, John Klassen and wife, Anna, Liberal, and Dr. Walter Klassen and wife, Susy, Woodward, Okla.; one daughter, Martha Walker, Augusta; one brother, Pete Doerksen and wife, Lydia, Meade; four sisters, Lena Doerksen, Dodge City, Sarah Peters and husband, Jonie, Reedley, Calif., Alma Freisen and husband, Ray, Edmond, Okla. and Anna Freisen and husband, Alvin, Hesston; and nine grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her parents.

o Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Emmanuel Mennonite Church in Meade with the Rev. Rusty Callahan presiding.

Burial will follow at Emmanuel Mennonite Cemetery.

Friends may call until 8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Miller Mortuary.
