MEADE – Billy D. Deane, 74, died Friday, June 16, 2010, at his residence.
He was born Aug. 7, 1935, to Merle G. and Evelyn (Woods) Deane in Optimal, Okla.
He married Mary G. Weaver Dec. 19, 1960, in Wichita. She survives.
As a young boy he attended school in Guymon, Oklahoma, graduating from Guymon High School in 1947.
After his graduation, he joined the United States Air Force serving for several years.
Upon his discharge from the service he began working for Ideal Food Stores in Guymon. He later transferred to Boise City, Okla. as the produce manager. After a few years he moved to Plains as the store manager and later to Meade as the store manager for Ideals. After twenty years of service to Ideals, he left the store and later became a heavy equipment operator for the Kansas Department of Transportation until his retirement at the age of 62.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Meade.
Billy enjoyed fishing, camping, woodworking, spending time with family and friends for coffee, and attending garage sales.
Other survivors include one daughter, Sletha Ann Deane-Wiser, Meade; his mother, Evely Deane, Guymon.; two brothers Merlin Dale Deane, Guymon, and George Dewey Dean, Ark.; and two grandsons, Lloyd and Jason Wiser.
He was preceded in death by his father; one son, James Ray Deane; one brother Jerry Wayne Deane; and two sisters, Phyllis Joan Deane and Betty Ruth Hirn.
o Celebration of life services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, at Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary Chapel in Meade with the Reverend Gordon Paulsen presiding.
Cremation has taken place.
Memorials are suggested to the Friends of the Meade Public Library and may be sent in care of Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary.
