SATANTA – Hazel Eunice VanZant, 74, died Saturday, March 6, 2010, at Bob Wilson Memorial Hospital in Ulysses.
She was born Nov. 29, 1935, to John William and Rosie Florence (Farmer) Thompson in True, W.Va.
She married Darwin Ray VanZant Dec. 14, 1989, in Sublette. He survives.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of the Satanta Baptist Church. She was a Sunday school teacher for many years.
She enjoyed cooking, attending garage sales, cross stitching, collecting rocks, bingo, traveling and quilting.
Other survivors include three sons, Joey Meadows, Satanta, David and Jessica VanZant, Princeton, and Tommy and Christy Van Zant, Sublette; five daughters, Stella Carranza and Manuel, Rye, Colo., Wilma Diana Dipzinksi, Satanta, Penny and David Thacker, Satanta, Kay and Randy Lee, Fredricktown, Mo., and Julie and Lee Stephen, Evans, Colo.; two brothers, Boby Thompson of Virginia and Edward Thompson of North Carolina; two sisters, Anna Jane Ward of West Virginia and Janice Hylton of North Carolina; 24 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Billy Ray Meadows, Flint, Mich., three brothers, Houston, Earl and James Thompson, and an infant sister.
o Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Moscow Baptist Church with Larry Bradford presiding.
Burial will be at the Moscow Township Cemetery.
Friends may call until 8 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Haskell County Funeral Home.
